In order to reach goals, organisations need to operate with increased flexibility and decisiveness. The success of an organisation depends increasingly on the involvement and quality of employees; they make the difference. An organisation with employees who work 'beyond contract', employees who are dedicated, has a competitive edge. One of the biggest challenges for an organisation is to keep talent motivated and interested. A second challenge is to encourage employees in such a way that their talents develop optimally and can be brought into practice. Dedicated employees show vitality and resilience, are enthusiastic and inspired and act upon work requirements. They are involved, satisfied and loyal. In addition they show more persistence than less dedicated employees. Aside from the importance of motivated employees for the organisation, employees themselves also find it increasingly important to get satisfaction from their work. More than before, work is a source of pride, identity and personal growth. The last (two) decennia this shift has also become apparent in the social, labour and organisational psychology. More attention is focused on productivity and satisfaction, where work and developing talent are conditions to optimize working life. Aside from factors that have positive effects on all employees, people also differ strongly in what is important to them. For the organisation and for the individual employee it is sensible to discover on a regular basis how employees feel about the organisation and their work. In order to research this with proper foundation, LTP developed several instruments, among which the Involvement Monitor. |
