Assessment Center (remote or on location)

Some of the assessments are used to evaluate your competences. Competences refer to a certain type of behaviour that is important in a particular function, for example competences like ‘customer orientation’ and ‘persuasiveness’. Competences are often listed in employment ads and job descriptions as well. For your assessment programme a set of competences has been put together (competence profile) that is appropriate to the position you are applying for or to your development direction.

Competences may be defined as follows:

They are behavioural skills.
There are not the same as professional knowledge, personality, intelligence and incentives, although they are related to them.
They can be evaluated. They can be improved, to a greater or lesser extent, by training and/or coaching.

Abilities tests, or intelligence tests, are completed on the computer. Often these tests require you to recognise image patterns or understand relationships between words. Depending on the type of assessment you are doing, the test may also relate to evaluating numerical insight.

Research has shown that abilities tests are powerful predictors of a person’s ability to successfully function – or not – in a certain position.

Abilities tests have a time limit and must be completed in a single session. Our tests have been designed in such a way that only few people manage to complete all the questions within the set time.

This means it’s not necessarily a bad sign if you are unable to answer all the questions. The time you have left for the test is always clearly indicated. You can skip difficult questions and return to them if you have enough time.

There are no right or wrong answers in the personality questionnaire. The personality questionnaire gives the assessment psychologist an impression of the structure of your personality.

The personality test uses the Big 5. This theory utilises five dimensions to determine the character, or personality, of an individual: extraversion, carefulness, emotional stability, open-mindedness and mildness.

If you only do an online assessment, the report will appear in your account within 10 minutes after you complete the online assessment. If your assessment will be held on one of our locations, the report with the results will be sent to you a few days after your visit. If you have any questions about the results, please don’t hesitate to call: 020 30 50 438.

After viewing your report you can authorise – or decline to authorise – your (future) employer to access your report and use your test results. You can do this by answering the question relating to the authorisation. You will find this declaration by logging back in to the online assessment website. For the assessment procedure to be successfully completed it is important that you answer this question.

Your data will be treated with the utmost care and confidentiality. Read more about this in our Privacy Statement.

Online assessments

An assessment is a psychological evaluation and consists of (online) tests and questionnaires, supplemented with one or two practical simulations and an interview if required. An assessment provides you with a better understanding of your qualities and possibilities, and allows you to show the best of yourself to your (future) employer.

Make sure you are aware of the purpose of the assessment. Practicing the test before you start is recommended. Please be rested and relaxed when you do the assessment.

You can practice the capacity test on our practice site. Various types of tests are shown, detailed examples are provided and there are examples of common mistakes that are made. You can also practice a test with a time limit.

You can complete an online assessment in any location where you have access to a computer and a good internet connection. For optimal functioning we recommend using an updated version of the Mozilla Firefox browser. Properly completing an online assessment isn’t always successful in a Cloud environment. In that case we recommend that you log in to a different computer.

Other than computer access, the most important thing for an online assessment is peace and quiet. Make sure you will not be interrupted (for example, turn off the sound on your phone and make sure that your internet connection is working properly).

There may be different reasons for this. Below you will see a few suggestions to help you if you are experiencing problems logging in:

  • Check the username for typing errors.
  • Check the password; uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols.
  • If you are still unable to log in try again by closing down all open screens in your browser and logging in again.
  • You must authorise the use of cookies.
  • The website functions best in the Mozilla Firefox browser.
  • Use a stable Internet connection (preferably no Wi-Fi).

Your (potential) employer may have different reasons for requiring an assessment:

  • The purpose of a selection assessment is to determine whether you are suitable for a particular function. In that instance the assessment forms part of the application process.
  • In a development assessment we look at your abilities and your development points in relation to your current function or a potential new position.
  • A mobility or career assessment will give you insight into who you are, what you are looking for and what you are capable of. Based on this assessment you will receive recommendations for appropriate career moves.

An e-assessment (or online assessment) consists of one or more online tests and questionnaires. An online game may also form part of the proceedings. You can complete an e-assessment at home or at work.

In  your personal portal you can see the components of your online assessment. You will also see how much time you have to complete the individual components. You will find similar questionnaires on the LTP practice site.

For an online assessment that you can complete at home or at work you will receive an invitation by e-mail. In addition to practical information the invitation will also contain your personal login details. This allows you to log in to a secure website where you will be completing the assessment.

Sometimes it is a requirement for a test to be completed in a controlled environment. This means you are expected to report to an LTP office or a particular place within your organisation.

Abilities tests can not be done on a tablet or mobile phone, you will need a computer or laptop with a mouse (or touchpad) and keyboard. If your online assessment consists of personality questionnaires only, you will be able to use a tablet.

An online game is a test in de form of an online game, comparable to a practical simulation. For example, the recruitment game ‘Everest Games’ is used to map out how you deal with large quantities of information.

All the components of an online assessment are completed on a secure website.

If you are in the portal and see a locked padlock in front of some questionnaires or tests you only need to complete the questionnaires with an open padlock. This may be because you will be doing part of the assessment on site (at the client’s office or one of the LTP offices), which is why the questionnaires or tests in question are locked. They will be unlocked as soon as you visit the applicable location. However, you can prepare for these components via the LTP practice site.

You need to activate your account and choose your own password. You can do this as follows:

  • Click on the activation link in your invitation e-mail.
  • In the centre of the screen you will be asked to enter a password and then enter it again for verification.
  • Once you have done this you will see a notification that your account has been activated and that you can log in on the left of the screen.
  • You can log in with the username provided in your invitation e-mail and the password you have selected.

If you are dyslexic this may affect your performance in (online) assessments, so it is advisable to notify the organisation for which you are completing the assessment (the client) of this fact in advance and provide them with a dyslexia declaration. The client can then ask LTP (via online@ltp.nl) to use a specially adapted assessment programme.

This is determined by the client, so you will need to get in touch with the contact person of the organisation for which you are doing the assessment.

If you have questions about the selection procedure or about the results of the online assessment, we suggest you get in touch with the contact person/recruiter of the organisation for which you are doing the assessment. They are aware of the agreements regarding the procedure.

If you are experiencing technical problems please contact the LTP helpdesk by phone: (020) 30 50 438 or by e-mail: online@ltp.nl. The helpdesk is available on working days days between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM.
